Master Li

Master Li Qiang began studying Wushu when she was six years old. She exhibited immense talent and potential, and at the age of fifteen, she entered the Beijing Wushu Team's A Team, the world's top team for professional Wushu athletes. The team is famous for producing the renowned martial artist and action star Jet Li. During her ten years at the Beijing Wushu Team, Master Li received meticulous guidance and instruction from Jet Li's former coach Wu Bin. Between 1996 and 2001, she participated in numerous national-level professional Wushu competitions, winning first place championship titles in Broadsword, Staff, Southern Fist, Traditional Forms and Double Weapons. Between competitions, Master Li and her fellow teammates travelled to other countries as part of the Beijing Wushu Team's world tours. She was also individually selected as one of the eight delegates to represent China in the 1998 K-1 Performance in Japan. In 2003, Master Li retired from professional competition and began her career in coaching. She served as the coach for the national Wushu teams of South Korea, Sweden and Belgium. In 2007, she settled in the United States, where she coached of her two students to win positions in the American Wushu Team's A Team. After many years of teaching, Master Li now has former students in many corners of the globe, from Germany, Sweden and Mexico to Korea, Japan, Australia and Singapore. In 2003, Master Li also served as the Wushu coach for the movie "House of Flying Daggers". She personally trained the actress Zhang Ziyi and the Hong Kong pop star and actor Andy Lau in preparation for their roles in the film. Master Li is currently recognized as a National "Jian Jiang" Level Athlete by the Chinese government and as a National First Class Wushu Judge by the Beijing Sports Bureau. She is also a certified member of the National Wushu Association of China and the National Wushu Association of the United States. Master Li is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who emphasizes precision and accuracy in movements. Her deep passion for Wushu is highly motivating for students at levels all of training, from beginners to professionals. Her coaching is especially valuable for those who reach intermediate and advanced levels, for she possesses a deep understanding of the mechanisms behind high difficulty techniques and sequences. |
